The Gumlog Gang Reading Group

Love livin' at the Tugaloo Log Cabin Oasis. Actually, the best part of living here besides the quietness of the countryside, the beautiful Lake Hartwell close by, the friendly people round every bend, is the ability to burn my natural waste products right out in my own front yard.

However, the very, very, very best part of living here is The Gumlog Gang Reading Group I started a couple of years ago. Actually, it was started at the perfect time. Remember those long months of Covid when everyone would be scared out of their wits to venture out into the world? Wearing masks to the grocery store and staying 10 feet clear of anyone and anything. Staying home cooking and developing gourmet entrees and saving big bucks on eating out. Well, not the Gumlog Gang! After a genuine (starting a book club) invitation to the public in a neighborhood app, a "few great ladies' (not any men) showed up and we've been showing out since!

The awesome Gang meets monthly to chat and discuss our book selection for that month. The book we all chose for the month of October is a pretty scary, if not extremely gory, book that I'm' super enjoying so far. The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix is pretty darn spooklicious!
This book is not a frivolous easy read rather, it touches on some very hard-core situations that make you ask hard-core personal questions, like "What are you holding onto that's holding you back?" or If you didn't know your age, how old would you think you'd be?" or "How long is your now?" A few questions from WomensHealthMag.com . Lots more good stuff there too, if you subscribe, which I did not. Being frugal these days.

Well, the Gang is going to have a field day discussion on this one. Hope all the Gang will be there with all our gory problems, our super diverse assumptions, our colossal amount of creativity, and our mass abundance of intelligence... Not kidding, we are all that!

Do You Name Your Homes....

I always do, usually.  I remember my first family home was in Little Rock, Arkansas. The previous owners had painted the brick and frame a beautiful sage green. My husband at the time and two kids had a wonderful life there. We named it the Green House. Then we moved to the Powderhorn House. And so on and so on. Throughout the years I've lived in the Evergreen House, the Mississippi House and lots of others.

A few years ago, I moved to a log home in the Northeast part of Georgia. A nice sized plenty of bedrooms and baths kind of secluded place where anyone would love to live. It's in a wonderful little town that certainly reminds me of Mayberry. I call this home my Tugaloo Log Cabin Oasis. Not much to do here but it's close to Lake Hartwell and my son has a lake home down the way from me. I've made this place my special oasis, thus the name. Lots of time for book reading with my Gumlog Gang Reading Group, self-pedicure giving, and enjoying the lake life with my family. Everyone needs an oasis to escape to. Don't you agree...
